Presenting... THE ASSHOLE FILES!!

Digital Display Working Group  (DDWG) - A dysfunctional collection of indecisive assholes.

The "Digital Display Working Group" (seen at ( http://www.ddwg.org ) is an electronics industry group which is headed by such companies as:

Intel, Compaq, Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard (HP), IBM, NEC and Silicon Image

The  actual membership is a veritable who's who of electronics manufacturers.

The stated purpose of the DDWG is to "address the industry's requirements for a digital connectivity specification for high-performance PCs and digital displays." In English, this means that they are supposed to agree on some logical and simple means of connecting video devices such as your computer monitor, TV or HDTV, DVD player, projector, etc.

BANG UP JOB YOU FUCKING IDIOTS!!!

I now have to sort between a veritable CLUSTERFUCK of cable types, and buy costly adapters that may or may not actually work! The list now includes (but is not limited to):

HD15, HDMI, DVI-A, DVI-D, DVI-M, DVI-I, DVI-Mini, Optical DVI, S-Video, RCA, Component (Y,Pb,Pr), SVGA, DFP, Hi-Res BNC, SVHS, etc etc etc.

This list, though not complete, is effectively DOUBLED when you consider that each of these connections has both a Male and a Female connector type.

Not only do we pay these clowns hundreds or even thousands of dollars for their electronics, but then we have to pay anywhere from $30 to over $100 for that special adapter that will allow their product to actually connect to anything.

Finally, one would think that this organization would at least have the heart to publish a comprehensive listing of connectors with diagrams or pictures of each to help the public to identify what they have, and thus locate the correct adapters and/or cables to suit their needs. If you think this, you've thought WRONG. Their site is largely uninformative, and most pages are "members only" and are hidden behind password protection.
